SUMMARY

Twenty-eight years experience in Industrial Construction and Engineering as a Piping Designer, Project Coordinator, and Pipefitter.  Projects include Chemical, Pulp and Paper, Nuclear power, and Manufacturing.  These projects required hands-on experience, a general understanding of multi-crafts, and the ability to interpret and understand various Drawings, Codes, and Specifications.  My experience includes estimating, asbuilts, field inspections for seismic supports, plant startup team member, relief stream inspections, and construction coordination.  I have supervised the installation of process piping and underground piping/plumbing.  I have twelve years of AutoCAD experience, presently using version 2002, and am proficient with both Microsoft Excel and Word.

2/2002 – 5/2002:  Construction Coordinator – Black Diamond Services, Inc.

Contract position at Calvert Cliff Nuclear Power Plant in Lusby, MD.  Worked with the construction oversight group reporting directly to the Plant, providing detail information on the status of job activities and schedules.  My basic responsibility was to make sure the contractor followed the work packages and procedures and did so in a safe, productive and efficient manner.  This job replaced two steam generators by several contractors and required a good understanding of piping and mechanical drawings, and the ability to communicate and get along with people.

1/1994 – 1/2002:      Piping Designer    Perigon Engineering – Wilmington, NC

Provided orthographic, isometric piping drawings, equipment arrangements drawings, and Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs).  Assisted in project planning, estimating and engineering.  Worked on site for ICI Americas in Fayetteville, NC as a relief stream inspector, plant startup team member and pipe designer.  Most assignments with Perigon were at clients that required me to help with seeing through the completed job on schedule and with minimal problems, all from a mechanical standpoint.  Experienced with jacketed pipe, lined pipe, and sanitary piping.

Contract position at ICI Americas, Fayetteville, NC.  Provided piping design drawings, assisted with estimating and managing projects.

9/1988 – 3/1990:      Piping Designer Action Technology – Richmond, VA

Contract position at Reynolds Metals in Richmond, VA.  Generated piping design drawings and assisted with mechanical design.  Provided field coordination between engineering and construction.

8/1987 – 9/1988:      Project Coordinator Yeargin Construction company – Greenville, SC

Contract position at ICI Americas, Fayetteville, NC.  Provided material take-offs for piping and equipment.  Supervised drafting group providing isometric piping drawings.  Coordinated activities between construction and plant operations.    Documented and assisted in solving design problems during construction.

12/1986 – 8/1987:    Designer and Pipefitter BE&K – Birmingham, AL

Contract position at Federal Paperboard in Riegelwood, NC. Fabricated and installed process piping. Provided material take-offs and estimates.  Produced isometric and orthographic drawings.

11/1982 – 12/1986:  Project Coordinator / Field Inspector Yeargin Construction Company – Greenville, SC

Contract position at Carolina Power and Light Company in Southport, NC.  Worked with engineering Group during plant outages at the BWR nuclear power plant.  My duties were to provide asbuilts of piping and seismic supports.  Performed walk-downs for completed plant modifications, assembled turnover packages, and assisted in project planning and scheduling.

6/1973 – 11/1982:    Pipefitter / Supervisor Yeargin Construction Company – Greenville, SC

Started as a Helper in construction and traveled from job to job working in the pipe trade.  Worked at different types of plants learning about different trades and processes.  Worked my way up to the Supervisory level before applying my schooling and field experience to move on to engineering group assignments.
